Job Description
Product Security at Zendesk is a globally distributed team of passionate, motivated and focused application security specialists. We understand how to build applications securely and enjoy crafting creative approaches to scale security either through automation, education or secure design.
Our customer service and engagement products are powerful and flexible, and scale to meet the needs of over 150,000 businesses. We are the champions of customer service and the security team at Zendesk brings confidence to how we do it.
On the Zendesk Product Security Team, we develop and build processes and tools that allow us to make the right, secure decisions for our customers and bake security into our products. We partner with our engineers to prioritise security during the entire software development lifecycle and provide them the tools and programs to do so, including a mature bug bounty program, a vibrant Security Champions program, regular and in-depth security reviews, static/dynamic testing tooling and vulnerability lifecycle management. Within the Product Security organization, your team's focus will encompass a secure by design approach to product security reviews with local partners and building new security tooling, including customer facing features.
Note: This is a hybrid role, combining remote and on-site work, requiring 3 days in the office, and relocation to Pune.Who you could be working with:
You’ll be part of a high-performing team responsible for building distributed, high scale and data-intensive integrations that extend our market-leading core SaaS product. Partnered with other SaaS providers and cloud vendors (e.g. Slack, Atlassian and AWS), our products commonly incorporate the latest technologies and features to provide cutting-edge solutions to our customers. We enjoy working with Engineers who possess a strong growth mindset, are enthusiastic at problem-solving and can demonstrate leadership qualities. Our integrations process around 10 million events per day, so you will be challenged by the global scale and complexity of these systems.
What you’ll get to do each day:
Experience designing, leading and implementing customer-facing software projects. We need you to have experience with good and bad software projects and to have an opinion on what helps us lean more towards good.
A focus on ensuring that solutions being designed and built today will still meet needs over the next 18+ months
Able to manage time effectively to allow a balance of individual contribution and being interruptible to assist with issues and queries from other engineers
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to influence others within the organisation with diplomacy and tact.
Detail-oriented, with a focus on the delivery of quality work with a mindfulness of timelines needed for the business.
Ability to influence with authority, inspire and mentor more junior engineers.
Use best practices at every stage of the development cycle, peer code review and rapid deployment.
Understand and can be a champion of accessibility.
Ability to work with various stakeholders such as designers, product managers to influence decisions that provides the best outcome for customers.
What you bring to the role:
At least 9+ years of commercial software engineering experience as a Fullstack engineer .
Proficient in frontend and backend development using React and JavaScript/ NodeJS/ Typescript (preferred).
Significant experience with at least one modern Javascript Framework (React/Vue), Build Pipelines, Package Managers and other CLI Tooling
Experience with Javascript in client- and server-based applications
Experience with mono-repo patterns, frameworks and tooling
Experience building integrations in the Salesforce development environment or integrating with Salesforce APIs.
Experience building integrations with popular SaaS products such as Jira, Slack, Shopify, Microsoft Teams is an added plus
Our Tech Stack:
Our code is written primarily in Golang, JavaScript / TypeScript.
Our frontend use frameworks including React, Redux, React Testing Library, Cypress, Jest.
Our servers live in AWS.
Our applications/services are deployed via Spinnaker to Kubernetes.
Our data is stored in Aurora/MySQL, DynamoDB, and S3.
Please note that Zendesk can only hire candidates who are physically located and plan to work from Karnataka or Maharashtra. Please refer to the location posted on the requisition for where this role is based.
Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
