As a Sr. Paralegal, Employment & Litigation, you will act as a force multiplier across the organization by leveraging your legal expertise to facilitate legal processes and protect the brand from litigation risks. Your mission is to ensure the timely and successful resolution of legal matters by managing responses to legal requests, implementing risk mitigation measures, and optimizing the use of external counsel.

You will be required to attend the Plano, TX office 3 days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year university, preferably in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a Master’s degree.
  • Experience as a paralegal in a large law firm or fast-paced corporate environment with exposure to litigation preferred.

  • Strong team player, able to build relationships and contribute to a positive, productive team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage workload and schedules effectively.
  • Professionalism in interactions with downstream stakeholders, including franchisees and customers.

Salary Range: $89,300 to $96,000 annually + bonus eligibility. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Preparing and Administering Legal Responses

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and outside counsel to develop compliant responses to discovery requests.
  • Oversee and ensure timely, accurate legal responses to third-party subpoenas, franchise-tendered, and other litigation-related projects.
  • Provide first-line support on discovery, pleadings review, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, and draft formal correspondence.

Protecting the Brand and Mitigating Risk

  • Implement robust risk mitigation strategies informed by ongoing litigation and current industry legal issues.
  • Support the brand’s reputation by preparing internal and external communications, working closely with the Crisis Team as needed.

Maximizing the Value of External Resources

  • Source, manage, and evaluate outside counsel on litigation strategy and related issues for cases with exposure up to $250,000.
  • Review invoices and billing from outside counsel, identify savings, and reserve capital for insured matters as necessary.
