Medical Lab Scientist I

Performs a wide range of clinical laboratory testing in an accurate and timely fashion by utilizing technical and problem solving skills in conjunction with a thorough knowledge of clinical laboratory principles. Maintains effective communications and transfers testing and pending follow ups between employees and shifts following all CHAMP and HRO standards. Maintains all Quality Control and Quality Assurance standards at all times. Maintains operational effectiveness and assumes full responsibility for continuing education requirements, licensure, and expertise to adapt as needed to an expanding department with increased testing complexity.

EDUCATION:

BS Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or equivalent ASCP eligible or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

0-2 years

LICENSURE

ASCP eligible or equivalent

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Basic computer skills Consistently interacts with coworkers and customers in a positive manner. Cooperatively and proactively assists in other areas as needed in a teamwork oriented environment. Maintains procedure knowledge and implements all new and revised procedures in real time. PHYSICAL DEMAND

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. They are occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. They are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be tested for colorblindness and be able to make necessary.
