What you’ll need to succeed as a Financial Planning & Analysis Intern at XPO:

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree

  • 2 or more years of relevant coursework

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Education toward a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or related field

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for the intended audience

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

  • High energy work style with a strong drive to succeed

  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; able to consult with team members and management as needed

About the Financial Planning & Analysis Intern Position

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Have the opportunity to work with this professional team in critical areas like forecasting, and monthly operating reviews.

  • Participate in a 12-week program where you will assist in ongoing efforts focused on streamlining, improving, and automating recurring reporting and analysis, and gain exposure to presentations with senior leadership

  • Prepare and distribute weekly / monthly financial reports, including P&L analysis, KPIs, and executive‑ready summaries.

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting and budgeting cycles, including model updates, data validation, and variance analysis.

  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis, scenario modeling, and deep‑dive investigations.

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to understand operational drivers and validate assumptions.

  • Develop and enhance tools, dashboards, and models for improved accuracy, visibility, and efficiency.

  • Identify risks and opportunities, highlight trends, and provide actionable insights

  • Support continuous improvement efforts across forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and data processes.
