We anticipate the need for one or more Apprentice Substation Electrician(s) at our Black Avenue Service Center in Eau Claire, WI. The pay rate at a Journeyman level is $59.48 hourly (2025 rate), and depending on the level of our top candidate, an apprentice will be brought in at the following percentage of Journeyman pay. This position will be posted for 15 Working days from March 4, 2026, to March 24, 2026.

Minimum apprentice pay levels as a percentage of base Journeyman Substation Electrician pay:

1st Step: 60%

2nd Step: 65%

3rd Step: 70%

4th Step: 75%

5th Step: 80%

6th Step: 85%

7th Step: 90%

8th Step: 95%

Summary

In this position you will be required to successfully participate in and learn through a structured apprentice training program. Upon completion you shall perform at the level of a Journeyman Electrician with knowledge and ability to perform all aspects of Substation construction, operations and maintenance. To be successful in this position, you must be self-motivated, work well with others, and have a positive attitude.

Required

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Commitment to successful participation and advancement in apprenticeship program

• Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships in a team-oriented environment

• Must have basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office products

• Must reside within 20-mile radius of assigned service center within the first 6 months of hire

• Will be required to respond to after hour and weekend call out and be willing to travel extensively for extended periods of time

• Must be able to work in confined spaces

• Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds

• Must be able and willing to climb and work at heights

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Must be able to use an assortment of hand tools and electrical diagnostic equipment

• Must be committed to working safely and compliance with all company safety rules

• Must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR parts 382 and 391 and obtain a valid

• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A within the first 6 months of hire

• This position is subject to D.O.T. random drug and alcohol testing program

Preferred

• Additional education, such as a technical vocational or Associate's degree, in electrical construction and maintenance, electronics, or other related field

• Mechanical, electrical, electronics, and/or power distribution work experience

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $35.69 to $59.48 per hour
