TRYP by Wyndham Pulteney Street Adelaide is on the search for a Head / Sous Chef.
TRYP by Wyndham Pulteney Street Adelaide is perfectly situated in the heart of Adelaide’s Central Business District, home to many of the city’s top attractions. TRYP Hotel Adelaide is a stunningly modern, top-of-the-line 120-room hotel with an upbeat culture and eye-catching design.
The hotel features Z Kitchen in the foyer, opening for breakfast and lunch, café-style during the day and offering a touch of Mexican in the evenings for dinner.TRYP Bar, located on level one, features Mexican tapas cuisine and a balcony overlooking Pulteney Street. It is the newest place to be seen for a social night out and also caters for private events.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We have a unique opportunity for a dynamic and innovative, hands-on Head Chef / Sous Chef to lead the TRYP kitchen team.
We need a leader who has their finger on the pulse of the city and the fast pace of Gen X and Y urban culture. This leader will not only have the personality to reflect the unique and vibrant feel of TRYP, but also the drive to build the food and beverage operations, creating the TRYP culture of service with all the personal touches our hotel guests deserve.
The successful candidate must have a strong proven track record as a Chef and experience delivering innovative customer service through food. The ability to recruit, train, and continually develop a team while maintaining a strong focus on financial performance is critical.
We are looking for the hands-on personality, not just experience. If you have a background as a Head Chef or Sous Chef and, most importantly, the Gen X / Y personality, then we are looking for you.
WHAT CAN WE OFFER?

Salary package $80,000 – $90,000, subject to skills and experience

Be currently working in Australia or New Zealand

Have a minimum of 1 year experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in Australia or New Zealand
HOW YOU’LL SHINE
The Head Chef / Sous Chef is responsible for running the day-to-day kitchen operation, planning and designing menus aligned with financial goals and guest expectations, and delivering food and beverage offerings in a timely and professional manner.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Operating the Kitchen Department according to budget and completing monthly performance reviews

Hands-on shift work, including working solo when required
-
Ensuring food safety and hygiene in line with HACCP and local guidelines

Preparing, producing, and presenting food to industry standards

Managing food cost percentages in line with revenue forecasts

Menu costing and menu engineering in collaboration with the F&B Manager
-
Food ordering, stock control, and monthly stocktakes
-
Minimising food wastage

Overseeing kitchen rosters
-
Providing exceptional guest culinary experiences

Working closely with the General Manager

Ensuring compliance with WHS policies and company procedures
Knowledge of Mexican or Latin American cuisine would be advantageous.
