Role Overview:

Wipro Innovation Network (WIN) Labs is seeking a visionary and accomplished Lead Robotics Research Scientist to join our Robotics & Embodied AI team. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Robotics or a closely related discipline and possess a proven record of pioneering research and thought leadership in robotics and artificial intelligence. As a key member of WIN Labs, you will set the vision for our applied research initiatives and drive client-centric solutions, shaping the future of intelligent automation and embodied AI at Wipro.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and articulate the research vision, roadmap, and priorities for the Robotics & Embodied AI team in alignment with organisational and client needs.
• Lead multidisciplinary research projects, fostering innovation in areas such as autonomous systems, human-robot interaction, machine learning for robotics, and physical AI.
• Collaborate closely with clients to identify opportunities for applied research, co-create solutions, and translate cutting-edge research into real-world applications.
• Mentor and guide a team of talented researchers and engineers, cultivating a culture of scientific excellence, creativity, and continuous learning.
• Publish high-impact research papers, patents, and thought leadership articles in premier conferences and journals.
• Establish and nurture partnerships with academic institutions, industry bodies, and technology consortia to advance Wipro's leadership in robotics research.
• Represent WIN Labs at global forums, conferences, and client engagements as a subject matter expert in robotics and embodied AI.
• Drive the adoption of ethical AI and responsible robotics practices throughout the research lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on robotics or embodied intelligence.
• At least 5 years of work experience in industry or applied research roles following completion of academic research (post-PhD or post-academia).
• 5 years of experience in robotics research and development, with a significant record of scientific and/or product contributions (academic and professional experience may be combined).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire research teams, set strategic directions, and deliver impactful outcomes.
• Strong publication record in top-tier robotics and AI conferences/journals
• Hands-on expertise in areas such as robot perception, motion planning, control, reinforcement learning, simulation, and physical system integration.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and client engagement skills.
• Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment is highly desirable.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud robotics, edge AI, and large-scale deployment of intelligent autonomous systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory and ethical frameworks relevant to robotics and AI.
• Track record of successful technology transfers or commercialisation of research outcomes.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C , and ROS ecosystem.
• Exposure to NVIDIA Omniverse ISAAC ecosystem
