Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are…

When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

Your New Role…

The Director of Music Society Licensing oversees the end-to-end management of Discovery Global’s (“DG”)relationships and contracts with international performing rights organizations and collective management organizations(“Music Societies”). This role focuses on Music Societies outside of the U.S. but also supports negotiation, strategy and administration related to U.S.-based performing rights organizations. DG supports a “one team” approach and this role will work closely with DG Music Team members, local DG Finance teams and business teams, outside counsel, and others inside and outside of DG. Responsibilities include negotiating business and legal terms, responding to new Music Society tariff requests, administering contract renewals and expirations, and providing expert rights consultation.

The position requires collaboration across international teams and external advisors to identify and resolve operational and legal issues, including helping to facilitate payments and provide reporting metrics. This role works in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment, and demands a high degree of autonomy, organization, and discipline, to manage DG’s international Music Society portfolio and support U.S. performing rights organization administration.

It is an essential function of this position that the work be performed partially from DG’s offices because the role benefits from direct interaction and collaboration across internal business units, best facilitated by a hybrid on-site presence.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Manage Music Society agreements including reviewing, analyzing and negotiating business and legal deal terms, and working with local in-house counsel and outside counsel to finalize and implement agreements. Conduct research and prepare materials related to Music Society negotiations.

  • Provide business and legal guidance and recommendations regarding Music Society agreements to ex-US clients.

  • Assist VP, Legal, Music with music business affairs and legal agreements and issues related to U.S. based Music Society agreements as needed (including, e.g., performing data analytics related to US Music Society renewal fees), advising clients, drafting term sheets, negotiating agreements.

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Undergraduate degree required.

  • Proven experience reviewing, analysing and negotiating ex-US Music Society agreements and tariffs.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, verbal and written.

  • Experience working at or with a large media company helpful.
