The GTP - Runtime Platform is looking for a Principal Software Engineer— a horizontal, hands-on technology leader who brings together expertise across software engineering. You will be the go-to person for solving complex technical problems across domains, providing architectural direction, and driving engineering excellence across teams.

What You’ll Do

• Technical Leadership: Act as a cross-functional technical leader supporting multiple domains
• Problem Solving: Engage directly with teams to diagnose and resolve critical technical challenges, regardless of tech stack or layer.
• Architecture & Design: Define and review architecture across systems; ensure designs are scalable, secure, performant, and maintainable.
• Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and guidance to Staff and Senior Engineers across disciplines and geographies.
• Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, and leaders to align technical roadmaps and ensure cohesive, end-to-end solutions.
• Innovation: Champion emerging technologies, AI/ML integration, and data-driven engineering practices to deliver next-generation solutions.
• Hands-On Contribution: When needed, dive into code, troubleshoot complex systems, and deliver high-impact contributions directly.
• Technical Governance: Establish and uphold standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks across engineering teams.
• Cross-Team Enablement: Serve as the technical “glue” between teams — ensuring collaboration, knowledge sharing, and unified technical direction.

What You’ll Bring

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including 5+ years in a technical leadership or principal-level role.
• Technical Breadth: Strong programming skills in Java, Spring boot, Python and Microservices,
• 10 years of experience in systems design, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems,microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with machine learning pipelines,MLOps, and integrating AI/ML models into production systems.
• Experience with modern frameworks and tools — Kubernetes, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, CI/CD pipelines, and Git Ops.
• Deep knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture and experience in designing and implementing RESTFUL Services.
• Solid design and coding skills in Java and/or Spring framework and JVM internals (concurrency, multi-threading).
• Strong computer science knowledge in algorithms and database concepts
• Hands-on experience with GenAI concepts and technologies,
• Cloud Development experience (GCP or Azure)
• Experience in building scalable/highly available distributed systems in production.
• Knowledge of Software Engineering best practices with experience on implementing CI/CD, Log aggregation/Monitoring/alerting for production system.
• Very good expertise in production support related activities (issue identification, resolution)
• General understanding of software development lifecycle from planning to deployment.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and knowledge of Accessibility design principles.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Ability to adapt to change quickly, willingness to learn new and emerging technologies
• A constant desire to improve, learn more, and take things to the next level, and a passion for adopting the latest features in the technologies that we leverage.
• AI/ML Proficiency: Strong understanding of applied AI/ML, model lifecycle management, and integrating data-driven intelligence into applications.
• Experience collaborating with teams and optimizing ML workflows for production scale.
• Soft Skills & Leadership: Exceptional problem-solving and analytical ability.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to influence across technical and business teams.
• A mentor and multiplier — raising the technical bar across teams.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of navigating diverse technologies and problem domains.
