The Walmart Cloud Native Platform (WCNP) is Walmart’s next-generation platform designed to run millions of workloads across global regions with high availability, cost efficiency, and enterprise-grade security. WCNP provides the foundational layer for Walmart’s digital ecosystem, powering customer-facing applications, backend services, and critical business operations at scale.

  As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for architecting and evolving large-scale, multi-cluster Kubernetes platforms with enterprise-grade reliability, security, and cost efficiency. You will define control plane transformation strategies, drive technical roadmaps, and mentor senior engineers. In addition to deep Kubernetes and cloud expertise, this role requires advanced skills in security, multi-tenant architecture, and AI/ML integration. You will also lead the adoption of agentic AI systems to enable predictive scaling, autonomous remediation, and intelligent fleet management at scale.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and evolve large-scale, multi-cluster Kubernetes platforms with high availability and resiliency.

• Drive control plane transformation (federation, sharding, HA strategies, zero-downtime upgrades).

• Define technical roadmaps for fleet scaling, automation, and security at enterprise scale.

• Integrate AI/ML and agentic AI systems for predictive scaling, anomaly detection, autonomous troubleshooting, and self-healing of clusters.

• Mentor senior engineers and influence platform direction through cross-team collaboration.

What You’ll bring

• Proven expertise in large-scale Kubernetes architecture (tens of thousands of workloads, multi-region). (10-14 years)

• Strong experience in control plane scaling and evolution (API server, etc, HA design). (4-6 years)

• Track record of building frameworks for quota management, bin-packing, and fleet optimization. (4-6 years)

• Advanced security leadership (multi-tenant isolation, zero-trust principles, Dex integration, compliance frameworks). (4-6 years)

• Demonstrated ability to design and apply AI/ML, including agentic AI for autonomous remediation, contextual decisioning, and inter-agent collaboration in cluster operations. (3-5 years)
