Position Summary...

  • The Director, Learning and Development

  • Facility Services will lead the strategy, design, and execution of technical training programs for skilled trades, including HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration), Electrical, Plumbing, and General Building Systems. This role will leverage deep technical trade expertise and advanced learning methodologies to build competency-based pathways, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The Director will ensure that training initiatives directly impact asset reliability, technician readiness, and the overall performance of our facilities.

  • What you'll do...

  • Develop and implement training strategies for HVAC/R, Electrical, Plumbing, and General Building Systems, aligned with business needs and desired outcomes.

  • Design and deliver hands-on, competency-based training specific to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC/R roles.

  • Build career progression pathways (apprentice → journeyman → master) for each skilled trade.

  • Align training programs with licensing and certification requirements (OSHA, NEC, EPA 608, local/state trade licenses).

  • Leverage simulation, AR/VR, and mobile learning to accelerate skill acquisition in field environments.

  • Oversee the creation and delivery of digital and physical training materials, ensuring brand consistency and best practices across all media formats.

  • Drive compliance with regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, NEC, local plumbing/electrical codes) and embed a safety-first culture in all technical training initiatives.

  • Use data-driven tracking systems to link technician readiness to asset outcomes (work order close rates, energy usage, repair/replace decisions).

  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure training feedback is incorporated into future plans and strategies.

  • Mentor and develop team members, assign and oversee tasks, and review recommended solutions.

  • Support workforce development, succession planning, and talent engagement initiatives.

What You'll Bring…

  • Technical Trade Expertise
  • HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration): Knowledge of systems operation, preventive maintenance, EPA 608 compliance, refrigerant management, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices.
  • Electrical Systems: Understanding of electrical codes, safety protocols (NFPA 70E), load management, controls, and troubleshooting.
  • Plumbing Systems: Proficiency in water distribution, waste systems, pumps, valves, fixtures, and adherence to plumbing codes.
  • General Building Systems & Asset Strategy: Familiarity with facility infrastructure including lighting, roofing, building envelope, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Training & Workforce Development

  • Proven experience designing and delivering hands-on, competency-based training for skilled trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC/R).

  • Demonstrated ability to build career progression pathways (apprentice → journeyman → master) for technical roles.

  • Expertise in aligning training with licensing and certification requirements (OSHA, NEC, EPA 608, local/state trade licenses).

  • Experience leveraging simulation, AR/VR, and mobile learning platforms to accelerate field skill acquisition.

  • Compliance & Safety

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance (EPA, OSHA, NEC, local plumbing/electrical codes) and a commitment to safety-first practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to embed a culture of safety across all technical training initiatives.

  • Asset Performance & Analytics

  • Ability to use analytics to measure training effectiveness and drive asset reliability, uptime, and lifecycle performance.

  • Proficiency with data-driven tracking systems that link technician readiness to asset outcomes (e.g., work order close rates, energy usage, repair/replace decisions).

  • Leadership & Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience mentoring, developing, and leading teams in a technical environment.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
