VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations HCX

VMware by Broadcom, a leader in cloud infrastructure, data center networking, and security, is seeking a Software Engineer to join our VCF HCX Platform team in the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) division. As part of our team, you'll work on the core migration platform that helps customers seamlessly move their existing workloads into VCF deployments with minimal to no downtime at scale.

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Staff Software Engineer to join our Workload Mobility team. In this role, responsible for designing and implementing complex systems and features that enable efficient migration planning and execution. This role demands sound expertise in distributed systems, networking, operating system and system design principles.

Key Responsibilities

• System Design and Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of significant components within the workload migration platform, focusing on scalability, reliability, security, and performance.

• Technical Ownership: Take ownership of features and services, driving them through design, development and automation.

• Hands-on Development: Write high-quality, production-ready code to implement core migration logic, APIs, and control functions.

• Performance and Scalability: Ensure the design and implementation of systems meet stringent performance, scalability, and security requirements.

• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to closely integrate VCF HCX platform into the broader VCF product suite.

• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve complex functional and performance issues during product development as well as customer issues.

• Reviews: Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and contribute to technical documentation.

Requirements

• Experience & Qualification: Bachelors/Masters with 9+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time spent on system design and development.

• System Design Expertise: Proven ability to design and architect large-scale, complex software systems, including defining APIs, data models, and backend services.

• Programming Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in Java or at least one of the programming language (Java, Python, Go)

• Cloud/Virtualization Knowledge: Good understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.) and hybrid cloud concepts.

• Operating Systems: Strong understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and the related storage and networking concepts

• Communication: Possessing excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including the skill to clearly articulate complex technical concepts.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) or v Sphere, VMware NSX

• Familiarity with containerization technologies and their impact on workload migration

• Experience in data/VM migration or backup tools and techniques

• Experience working with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP etc)
