About the Role

The Global Business Optimization (GBO) team has a simple mission: turn massive amounts of data into actionable insights that drive business value. GBO sits within Client Services and partners closely with Visa’s clients, partners, and internal teams to improve portfolio performance, increase program profitability, and enhance cardholder experiences.

This role will be a key member of Global Business Optimization, supporting initiatives focused on improving and optimising payment success across the Visa Europe region, including (but not limited to) authentication and authorisation. The successful candidate will help build and deploy a single source of truth for insights, facts, and reporting related to Visa Europe payment processing.

By combining deep analytical capability with strong business context and creativity, this role directly influences how Visa delivers value from its data assets and shapes strategic decision‑making across the organisation.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate large‑scale payment processing and performance data into clear, actionable insights that improve payment success and reduce friction across the ecosystem.
  • Support all aspects of payment success optimisation, including analysis related to authorisation and authentication performance.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance standardised reporting, insights, and facts, contributing to a trusted single source of truth for Visa Europe payment processing.
  • Conduct in‑depth analysis of cardholder and transaction behavior to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to help ensure Visa products and services operate at their highest potential.
  • Present insights and recommendations clearly to a variety of audiences, translating complex analysis into business‑ready narratives and actions.
  • Contribute analytical expertise that informs the strategic direction of the Global Business Optimization organisation and Client Services more broadly.

This is a hybrid position, with the expectation being 3 days per week in the Madrid office.

Must haves:

  • Demonstrable experience in a corporate environment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills in English.
  • Proven client presentation skills.
  • Proactive, curious, problem solver with experience of being a self-starter and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience working in data analysis and/or insight delivery with a proven record of creating business value from data.
  • Basic level of manipulating data from a variety of sources
  • Big data skills (Hadoop, Hive, Spark) and/or SQL skills is an advantage.
  • Experience visualising data with tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications with advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.

Great to haves:

  • Visa experience or knowledge of the payments industry.
  • Knowledge of the Authorisation/ Authentication process.
  • Knowledge of additional European language(s).
