About Vercel:

Vercel gives developers the tools and cloud infrastructure to build, scale, and secure a faster, more personalized web. As the team behind v0, Next.js, and AI SDK, Vercel helps customers like Ramp, Supreme, Pay Pal, and Under Armour build for the AI-native web.

Our mission is to enable the world to ship the best products. That starts with creating a place where everyone can do their best work. Whether you're building on our platform, supporting our customers, or shaping our story: You can just ship things.

About the Team

The Data Platform & Engineering team builds and operates the infrastructure, systems, and data foundations that power decision-making and intelligent workflows across Vercel.

We design and maintain the data platform that enables analytics, experimentation, internal tooling, and emerging AI-powered agents. Our work provides the context and infrastructure behind company-wide interfaces, automation, and data-driven workflows.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Summer Intern to join the Data Platform & Engineering team. This role is designed to flex across Data Platform Engineering and Data Engineering, depending on your strengths and interests.

You’ll work on foundational systems that power company-wide agents, internal tools, analytics environments, and operational workflows. This is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact infrastructure and data products used across the organization.

You will:

  • Build and improve data pipelines using SQL and Python

  • Contribute to the development and reliability of our data platform infrastructure

  • Help design and model datasets that power analytics, internal tools, and AI-driven workflows

  • Improve data quality, observability, and governance across systems

  • Support the infrastructure and contextual data layers that enable company-wide agents and interfaces

  • Partner with engineering, product, finance, and operations stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data solutions

Depending on your focus, projects may lean more toward:

  • Data Engineering: modeling, transformation, orchestration, analytics enablement

  • Data Platform Engineering: infrastructure, tooling, performance optimization, developer experience for data systems

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python

  • Solid understanding of data modeling principles and relational databases

  • Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL/ELT concepts, or workflow orchestration

  • Comfort working in a collaborative, fast-moving engineering environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Based in SF/Bay Area & open to commuting to SFHQ 2-3 days a week

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Big Query, etc.)

  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)

  • Experience working with large datasets or analytics systems

  • Interest in AI/ML systems or agent-based workflows

What You’ll Gain

  • Real-world experience building production-grade data infrastructure

  • Exposure to modern data platform architecture at scale

  • The opportunity to shape systems that power decision-making and AI-driven workflows across Vercel

  • Mentorship from experienced data and platform engineers

  • A meaningful, scoped project with measurable impact
