You will be part of the team tasked with a unique opportunity to guide the organization through building a portfolio of strategic venture investments. In addition, you will play a role in the end-to-end investment process from sourcing to coordinating across Vanguard business and technology leaders to monitoring portfolio performance. You also will collaborate across the broader Corporate Strategy and Strategic Business Development teams, including M&A and Partnerships and Strategic Enablement, to align investment theses, coordinate due diligence, and support portfolio companies.

Create value through venture investments

This role will support key activities related to potential venture investments and will report directly to the Head of Venture Investing. The ideal candidate knows how to build and foster strong external networks, work cross-functionally with internal teams, support investment negotiations and due diligence, and execute venture investments.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and evaluate venture investment opportunities by delivering both quantitative and qualitative analysis, including financial models and scenario analysis, to estimate potential value, recommend investment opportunities, and gain consensus on investment theses and opportunities that align with Vanguard's business goals and strategic priorities.
• Support the negotiation of investment terms, strategic partnership, and pilot agreements, including drafting term sheets and long-form agreements to structure and close venture investments.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clearly communicate in-depth market research and financial analysis to senior enterprise and business stakeholders.
• Work independently with attention to detail and sensitivity to deadlines. Lead individual workstreams and contribute to the larger investment team.
• Create investment recommendation presentations and memoranda for executive stakeholders.
• Contribute to the strategy and operations of a maturing venture investing function.
• Coach less experienced crew in research, analysis, investment thesis generation, financial modeling and valuation, and investment methodologies and frameworks based on deep knowledge of emerging trends and industry standards.
• Exhibit strong conceptual thinking and time management, as well as analytical problem solving, investment acumen, negotiation experience, and persuasion skills.
• Travel to management meetings, investor meetings, conferences, and industry events, as required.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of five years of related work experience. At least two years of experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate development, investment banking, or similar field. Prior investing or M&A experience required.
• Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or similar concentration required.
