We are seeking a Technical Lead Engineer to drive the development and integration of our onboarding SaaS platform, supporting both our Personal Investor and Superannuation products in Australia. This role blends hands-on engineering leadership with pre-sales technical engagement, helping shape our partnership model with platforms like Employment Hero.
A key responsibility of this role is building a new team from the ground up. As we currently do not have a dedicated partnership team, the Technical Lead will be responsible for assembling their own team, including interviewing and hiring.

You’ll lead the design and implementation of scalable, modern web applications, with a strong focus on React, AWS, and event-driven microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to influence both engineering and business stakeholders.

This hybrid role (in office Tues-Wed-Thurs) is based in Melbourne, VIC

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design and development of React-based applications for onboarding and client engagement.
  • Architect and implement scalable solutions using AWS, EDA, and microservices.
  • Build and grow a high-performing engineering team, including hiring, interviewing, and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and partnership teams to deliver seamless web and mobile experiences.
  • Act as a technical advisor in pre-sales engagements, helping partners understand integration capabilities.
  • Ensure high-quality code, performance, and security across the platform.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Engineer in SaaS or web application development.

Strong proficiency in React.js and modern front-end frameworks.

Solid understanding of AWS services, event-driven architecture (EDA), and microservices.

Experience with UI customization and frameworks like Be Spoke.

Familiarity with mobile development (iOS/Android) is a plus, but not required.

Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in partnership or B2B integration models.

Exposure to onboarding platforms or HR tech (e.g., Employment Hero).

Knowledge of financial services platforms, especially in the Australian market.
