The opportunity
The Unity Studio Productions team is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager based in Japan to plan and coordinate efforts with internal teams responsible for co-developing alongside market-leading Unity customer studios across the APAC region.
In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to ensure the successful production of game projects and achieve desired customer outcomes. You will also be responsible for reporting to internal key program management leaders on the innovations that contributed to these outcomes, and identifying ways to potentially improve the engine as a result. Team efforts will play a key role in informing the Unity Engine Product leadership team on critical decisions regarding the Unity Engine roadmap, ensuring that production-verified innovations are surfaced for adoption within the Unity Engine.
While your primary focus will be on supporting customer studios in Japan, you may also collaborate with partners in Korea and Singapore, as well as cross-functional teams in North America and Europe — helping shape the future of games, platforms, and interactive entertainment experiences for millions of users worldwide.
What you'll be doing
-
Leading end-to-end planning and execution of co-development projects, from early-stage customer engagements through to delivery, in close collaboration with business development, engineering, and production teams
-
Managing day-to-day project operations, including scheduling, task tracking, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination with both internal and external stakeholders
-
Supporting customer game productions by aligning with technical art and engineering leads on resource planning, staffing, and milestone tracking
-
Driving continuous improvement by documenting production outcomes, reporting project health, and identifying opportunities to optimize workflows and enhance Unity Engine capabilities
-
Providing strategic input on regional trends and customer needs in Japan and APAC, contributing to internal planning and long-term business alignment
What we're looking for
-
Proven experience in project or program management within the gaming or related technology (or entertainment) industries, with a strong track record of leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects
-
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with experience in guiding diverse, global teams
-
A solid understanding of game development workflows, or the ability to work closely with developers and technical stakeholders to translate customer needs into actionable plans
-
Fluent in Japanese and business fluency in either English or Korean with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to present complex information clearly to executive staff and key stakeholders
-
Familiarity with industry standard project management tools and methodologies, with a continuous improvement mindset
You might also have
- Experience in strategic planning or customer-facing proposal work is a plus
Additional information
- International relocation support is not available for this position
