As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will be a key contributor to modernizing our core infrastructure, partnering with research teams to deploy ROI-driven bidding strategies, and building the backend systems for next-generation AI agents that revolutionize campaign management. This role offers the chance to solve complex distributed systems challenges at massive scale while directly influencing Unity’s revenue growth.

What you'll be doing

• Improve the efficiency and reliability of core ads delivery and marketplace systems.

• Optimize real-time feedback mechanisms to ensure high-precision delivery and budget management.

• Collaborate on the design and implementation of next-generation bidding and ranking algorithms.

• Develop scalable infrastructure for automated products that enhance the advertiser experience.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to drive technical innovation and maintain a high bar for system quality.

• Analyze complex datasets and lead experimentation efforts to optimize performance metrics.

What we're looking for

• Scalable Backend Experience: Proven experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems using languages like Java, Go, or Scala.

• Ad-Tech Domain Knowledge: Proven experience in the ads delivery lifecycle, specifically with pacing controllers, auction mechanics, and delivery funnels.

• Real-Time Data Processing: Deep familiarity with low-latency data pipelines and stream processing technologies like Kafka, Flink, or Spark.

• Systems Optimization: Experience building or maintaining control systems, PID controllers, or bid/pricing optimization systems.

• Analytical Mindset: Proficiency in metric design, experimentation methodologies, and using data to guide architectural decisions.

• AI/Agentic Interest: (Plus) Experience or a strong interest in building infrastructure to support AI agents or LLM-integrated backend workflows.
