About the Role
We are looking for someone to lead Uber's Public Policy team in Northern Europe, based in Amsterdam and reporting to the Senior Policy Director for France, EU and Northern Europe.
You will be leading a team of two and working in one of the world's most talked-about tech companies on legislation that shapes our digital future, the future of work, AI and AV regulations, and urban sustainability and logistics. The Northern Europe region covers the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Ireland).
What You'll Do:
- Develop a clear and ambitious Public Policy strategy across a very varied region, so that it aligns with our mobility and delivery business objectives. You will proactively influence and anticipate policy trends, and design effective advocacy campaigns;
- Lead and inspire the Northern Europe Policy team to help your colleagues grow professionally while delivering best-in-class integrated campaigns;
- Represent Uber and establish a strong network of partners and allies with third-parties and decision-makers, embodying at all times the values and transparency that drive our advocacy work;
- Protect and promote our EMEA Amsterdam HQ, closely monitoring trends, debates, and policy developments that affect our corporate presence;
- Create trusted relationships with policy, operational and cross-functional country-level teams, to firmly anchor Uber positions into our day-to-day operations.
What You'll Need:
- An agile and strategic mind: The Uber policy team manages multiple policy fields, and Northern Europe is extremely varied. You must be adaptable, quick-minded, and able to immerse yourself quickly into new topics. You will be expected to identify and act independently on issues, and drive them internally as well as externally with senior stakeholders.
- An experienced manager: You will need to make the most of the combined talent of the team, and provide both support and autonomy to allow public policy professionals to perform at their best and grow in their roles;
- A good communicator: You should be able to articulate arguments clearly and simply, without jargon, to high-level internal and external audiences. You'll need strong writing skills and the ability to distill complex business issues into clear, actionable advice
- A team-player: Success at Uber depends on the ability to organize different teams around shared goals. We're looking for someone who is well-organized, enjoys collaborating across teams to drive swift and effective outcomes, and has the ability to build trusting and long-lasting relationships, internally and externally.
- An appetite to learn and grow: Uber is a fast-paced environment where you are guaranteed to learn a lot. We are looking for someone who is able to handle uncertainty and change, and makes the most of feedback.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is essential.
Bonus Points If10+ years of experience engaging with decision-makers and managing policy issues in a corporate, government, or third-party setting.
Fluency in Dutch would be a strong advantage.
Experience in the fields of tech, mobility and labour law is an advantage .

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office. For certain roles, such as those based at green-light hubs, employees are expected to be in-office for 100% of their time.
