About the Role:

Ads is one of the fastest growing lines of businesses at Uber. Every day thousands of advertisers use our Advertising platform to reach users on the Uber platform to help grow their businesses. The Uber Ads & Offers team builds consumer products that connect our eaters and riders to relevant businesses in engaging and delightful ways. We also build tools to help merchants, large and small, generate demand via Ads and Offers to grow their businesses.

As the Sr. Scientist leading Mobility Ads, you will drive science strategy and influence product direction and vision for ads on the Uber Rides app. You will be a thought partner for a wide breadth of topics ranging from optimization of existing ad formats to ideation and implementation of entirely new ones to interactions between ads and non-ad products. This is a highly visible, cross-functional role where you'll combine technical expertise with product intuition to shape key pillars of Uber's ads strategy.

We're seeking an experienced scientist with strong analytical acumen, technical depth, and a passion for solving complex, real-world problems.

• Lead the science charter for the Mobility Ads business, shaping the technical direction of the space and driving analytical deep dives to unearth insights and opportunities.

• Act as a thought partner with cross-functional teams across disciplines such as product, engineering, and marketing to drive product strategy for Mobility Ads.

• Design, implement, and analyze experiments within the Uber Rides app.

• Contribute to the development and refinement of scalable data science tools and methodologies.

• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical leaders to influence decisions and product direction.

Basic Qualifications:

• A degree in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
• 4+ years of relevant industry experience as a Data Scientist, Applied Scientist, or equivalent (2+ years if holding a Ph.D.).
• Experience in experimental design and analysis.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience extracting user behavior insights from large datasets.
• Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, optimization, economics, and analytics.
• Proficiency with tools such as Python or R for exploratory data analysis and modeling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience as a Data Scientist, Applied Scientist, or equivalent.

• Prior experience working on Ads.

• Proficiency in SQL.

• Experience in algorithm prototyping and development.

• Exceptional communication skills across technical, non-technical, and executive audiences.

• For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD**$190,000 per year**

• USD**$211,000 per year**.

• For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD**$190,000 per year**
