About the Role

Our team's mission is to manage and oversee Uber's tax matters across EMEA, ensuring compliance while supporting business growth in a fast-paced environment. This role serves as the primary tax lead for Türkiye, but because we move at Uber speed, you will also be a key player in supporting the broader EMEA region.

We are looking for a high-energy professional with a growth mindset who thrives in a flexible environment. At Uber, we don't just manage tax; we navigate change. You should be someone who is comfortable with shifting scopes and is eager to expand their expertise beyond a single jurisdiction.

You will be based in our Amsterdam HQ**, reporting to a Senior Tax Manager who is also based in Amsterdam (along with the rest of the EMEA tax team).**

  • What You'll Do
  • Primary Focus Türkiye**: Lead and manage all direct and indirect tax matters for our Turkish operations, ensuring full tax requirements are met and strategic alignment.- Audit Defense: Coordinate and lead responses to tax audits and queries from the Turkish Tax Authority and other regional bodies, managing external advisors and internal stakeholders.- Policy & Strategy: Monitor changes in Turkish and European tax legislation (such as Pillar Two) and assess their impact on Uber's platform model.- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Legal, Policy, and Ops to assess tax implications for new business initiatives and product launches.- Innovation: Proactively explore AI opportunities that can benefit the Tax team and drive efficiency across tax advisory workflows, risk assessment, and business decision support.- EMEA support: Provide cross-border tax advisory and support for other EMEA countries, collaborating on regional projects as business needs evolve.**
  • What You'll Need
  • Education**: At least a bachelor's degree in law, accounting, finance or a related discipline; relevant professional qualification or LLM in Tax would be an advantage.- Experience: 6+ years of relevant professional experience in a law firm, Big 4, or industry. Experience with Turkish tax law would be a plus.- Communication: Excellent English and Turkish (written and verbal communication skills).- Agility: A proven track record of being flexible and adaptable; you do not shy away from changes in scope or new challenges.- Technical mastery: Strong expertise in managing both direct (CIT) and indirect tax (VAT/DST) matters, specifically within the Turkish jurisdiction.**
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Tech Obsessed:** Experience or a strong interest in using AI and technology to drive efficiency in tax operations. Previous in-house experience working in a tech or platform-based business with hands-on experience in tax advisory.**- Regional Experience: While the focus is Türkiye, previous experience working with other EMEA countries is helpful.
