About the Role

Our team builds the tools and services to manage the lifecycle of configurations for all of Uber's business areas (Mobility and Delivery) and domains (fares, dispatching, matching etc). We play a pivotal role in enabling Uber to launch new products faster and more reliably while ensuring Uber is compliant to regulations. Uber operates in more than 2000 cities with various preferences and configurations in those cities. We manage the configuration data available in the city and interface with the systems that enforce it. The user's product selection presented when a user opens our app in a city is an example of configurations managed by this team. Each product eligibility consists of numerous attributes and fields based on which a user may or may not be eligible. Additionally, the configuration or filtering, matching, fares, dispatching, tracking, that ultimately make a city behave a certain way is managed by the configurations managed by this team.

The team is full stack, we own various business-critical UI tools, databases, and real-time services.

1. Collaborates with stakeholders across Eng, Ops, PM teams to design & build the next generation of product configuration stack to support Uber user-facing products.
2. Build large-scale, highly available (four 9s), and low latency systems to help Uber's Ops and Tech teams launch new products faster and more reliably
3. Design, implement, and ship reliable and well-tested features to our users
4. Help define the future of the platform, both technically and product-wise, and in-turn enable Uber to innovate faster
5. By interacting with users and understanding relevant data, you scope the next big problem to solve
6. Coach and develop your team members and help them grow

---- Basic Qualifications ----

1. BS or MS degree in computer science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
2. 7+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer focused on Web.
3. Extensive experience building complex large scale web applications with Node, Typescript, React,HTML, and CSS.
4. Excellent coding and software design abilities
5. An eye for product design and a desire to provide great user experiences
6. Ability to drive complex projects from idea to launch and beyond
7. Excellent problem solving, architecture, and algorithm skills.
8. Care deeply about the quality of the software and systems you build
9. Exceptional technical communication and collaboration skills, capable of achieving successful outcomes with colleagues at all levels, from junior engineers to senior executives.

---- Preferred Qualifications ----

1. Prior Experience and interest in full-stack development (Backend ).
2. Prior experience of driving collaboration with PM, Design, and other cross functional teams
3. Prior Experience in leading team and mentoring
4. Demonstrated fluency with one or more general purpose programming languages, including: Java, Go
5. Worked in critical systems that is important for the company and impacts top line
