About the Role

As a Partnership, Launch & Expansion Manager, you will be at the forefront of Uber's growth strategy in Japan. You will be responsible for two critical pillars that drive our business: Launch & Expansion and Strategic Partnerships. We are looking for a high-impact individual who can balance data-driven prioritization with creative problem-solving to scale our footprint and deepen our brand presence.

Launch & Expansion: You will manage the expansion of our service areas, which serves as the primary engine for our business growth. This involves managing multiple launches -ranging from strategic prioritization and schedule management to monitoring the marketplace health (supply-demand balance) of newly launched areas. You will collaborate closely with the supply teams and bring a creative mindset to stimulate demand, ensuring each new market is positioned for long-term success.

Partnerships: You will leverage Uber's global brand equity to create powerful synergies with external partners, including municipal governments, airlines, and other industry leaders. Your goal is to acquire new customers and increase frequency by designing and executing collaborative projects. In this role, building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and demonstrating excellence in end-to-end project management will be essential to unlocking new growth opportunities across the ecosystem.

Your Impact in Role:

Strategy & Insights:

  • Bring your analytical A-game. You'll build business models to better understand trends, provide useful insights, and track productivity of initiatives to ensure we're driving toward the best possible outcomes.
  • Build insightful reports and presentations to communicate business performance & strategic opportunities.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving. Deep dive into our biggest marketplace and core experience challenges and navigate high-touch issues through critical thinking and ideation.
  • Lead initiatives. You'll lead initiatives, strategies and processes and work with other operations teams across the world to grow strategic and long term opportunities

Stakeholder Management:

  • Meet with potential external partners, such as municipal governments and industry leaders to negotiate deals that will help with unlocking growth.
  • Customer obsession - expertly manage external stakeholders to find win-win solutions for Uber and the partner.
  • Manage various internal stakeholders to optimize the mobility marketplace

Data Analytics:

  • Possess the analytical depth to understand how seasonality, regional nuances, and the granular components of supply and demand impact our marketplace health
  • Ability to formulate sharp hypotheses, conduct rigorous analysis, and translate those insights into concrete, end-to-end action plans that drive measurable business growth
  • Use data to build compelling narratives, aligning diverse internal stakeholders and driving complex projects forward even amidst rapid change and uncertainty

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Project management experience
  • Data-first problem solving experience with excel/data management
  • Experience with working with external stakeholders
  • Japanese Fluency / Business English
  • Experience in strategy, operations, and program management
  • Experience producing executive level presentations
  • Analytics. Proven analytical skills and data-driven decision making; fluency in SQL, Tableau, and other analytical and visualization tools is preferred.
  • Experience taking initiative in a constantly changing work environment; resilience to overcome challenges and deliver during fluid conditions.
  • Self-motivated individual that works well independently
  • Experience with managing collaborators at all levels
