About the Role
At Uber, safety is central to our mission of providing reliable and accessible transportation for everyone. The India & South Asia Safety Operations team is responsible for reducing safety incidents on the platform and improving improving user trust, setting and upholding the highest standards for safety, accountability, and responsible platform operations in the region.
In this role, you will work closely with regional business leadership, Uber's global Safety Operations organization, and cross-functional partners including Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, Marketplace, and Driver Operations. You will help design and execute safety strategies that translate real-world risks into tangible improvements opportunities across products, policies, and operations. You'll operate in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment that goes beyond traditional safety models. Success in this role requires creative problem-solving, comfort with experimentation, and a hands-on mindset. By leveraging Uber's technology and data, you will build and scale solutions that reduce incidents, improve on-trip behavior, and reinforce trust in the Uber platform.
What the Candidate Will Do:
- Advance Uber's mission of safe transportation by developing and scaling initiatives that reduce safety incidents, prevent interpersonal conflict between riders and drivers, and improve overall road safety outcomes.
- Identify and implement best practices from mobility, public safety, and other high-risk industries to strengthen trust in Uber's commitment to safety.
- Design and execute targeted campaigns by working closely with the marketing and comms teams to improve user confidence on the platform
- Track legislative, regulatory, and societal developments related to safety, translating these insights into thoughtful policy guidance and product recommendations.
- Analyze safety data and user sentiment to understand the drivers of trust, conflict de-escalation, and perceived risk, and improve in-app safety communications using these insights.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to build and deploy technology-driven solutions that proactively prevent incidents, reduce accident risk, and enable faster, more effective safety response.
- Develop deep expertise in the factors that contribute to interpersonal conflict, unsafe driving behavior, and elevated risk on the platform, serving as a subject-matter expert and advisor for cross-functional initiatives.
- Act as a unifying force across Product, Legal, Policy, Comms, Driver Operations, and regional leadership to drive alignment and execution on safety-critical decisions.
- Work with leadership to define and evolve Uber's long-term safety strategy, including priorities for road safety, On-Trip conflict prevention, and incident reduction, balancing user trust, regulatory expectations, and business growth.
What the Candidate Will Need:
- A customer-first mindset with a strong passion for creating safe, respectful, and reliable transportation experiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to identify risk patterns, assess impact, and guide decision-making.
- 2+ years of experience in operations, analytics, consulting, customer experience, or risk management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and seniority levels.
- A creative, experimental approach to problem-solving, with comfort taking calculated bold bets to drive meaningful safety improvements.
- Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable programs or operational processes.
- High ownership, adaptability, and a generalist mindset suited to a rapidly changing environment.
- Experience working on road safety, public policy, trust & safety, or high-scale consumer platforms is a strong advantage.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office.
