About the Role

Uber's Consumer, Marketing & Commercial Legal team is looking for an exceptional Real Estate lawyer to work on commercial real estate matters, with a focus on Autonomous Vehicle Infrastructure. This is a great opportunity for both comprehensive legal support across all aspects of Uber's real estate portfolio as well as focused support in the exciting work for Uber's Autonomous Mobility & Delivery Group. This person will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive business objectives while managing legal risks.If you're passionate about real estate law, and working collaboratively to transform the way people go where they want and get what they need, come and join this exciting team!

What You'll Do:

  • Partner closely with Uber's Real Estate, Places, and Autonomous Mobility & Delivery Teams on all aspects of Uber's global real estate portfolio
  • Lead and manage real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and financings. Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, licenses, leases, construction contracts, and related documents
  • Oversee the negotiation and execution of commercial leases, subleases, amendments, and property management agreements. Provide ongoing legal support for lease enforcement and dispute resolution
  • Advise on land use, zoning, and entitlement matters. Manage legal aspects of development projects, including environmental compliance, permitting, and construction agreements
  • Conduct thorough due diligence for real estate transactions. Identify and mitigate legal risks, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Work closely with internal teams, including finance, risk management, and various business and legal sub-teams to align legal strategies with business objectives. Provide proactive legal advice to support decision-making processes
  • Build strong relationships with business partners to ensure the right level of support and collaboration
  • Manage outside counsel and supervise more junior team members as needed

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on commercial transactions, development, and leasing in a law firm setting
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of real estate law, including contract negotiation, land use, zoning, and environmental regulations

  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to manage complex transactions and legal matters in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to provide practical legal solutions aligned with business goals

  • Previous experience in global real estate is desirable

  • Outstanding analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, and innovative thinking

  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues

  • Consistent good judgment and ability to apply legal knowledge to help create practical business solutions

  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and the ability to constructively lead change

  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct

  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and influence employees at every level to embrace compliance initiatives

  • Desire to be part of a cohesive and supportive team environment
