About the Role:
The Direct Logistics Solution team's mission is to build highly efficient, next-generation logistics solutions that drive growth in last-mile delivery by evolving marketplace constructs. This role is responsible for major strategic initiatives focused on developing new and innovative fulfillment capabilities, optimizing pricing/incentives, and enhancing core efficiency elements like real-time batching and delivery time estimations. The candidate will have a direct, measurable impact on improving overall operational performance and significantly reducing the cost of delivery across the network.
What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points
---- What the Candidate Will Do ----
- Design and Implement Core Systems: Design, build, and deploy highly scalable, real-time backend services and APIs that power core logistics functions, such as dynamic batching, matching, and order fulfillment.
- Develop ML/Optimization Features: Take ownership of implementing and integrating machine learning logic into production, including feature engineering, model serving for predictions (e.g., ETA/ETD), and coding highly-optimized algorithms to drive CPT reduction.
- Technical Ownership and Quality: Lead the technical design, implementation, and testing of complex features end-to-end, ensuring code quality, low latency, and high reliability of critical production services in a 24/7 environment.
- Collaborate on Architecture: Participate actively in architecture reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and collaborate closely with Staff Engineers and Data Scientists to define the technical roadmap and solve complex cross-team integration challenges.
- Maintain and Operate: Drive operational excellence by improving system monitoring, alerting, and on-call procedures, and troubleshooting complex production issues to ensure the smooth operation of the logistics platform.
---- Basic Qualifications ----
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experiencein a high-scale environment, with a focus on building and operating high-throughput, low-latency Backend systems.
- Expert-level proficiency in one or more backend languages(e.g., Go, Java, Python) and a demonstrated ability to design and implement highly concurrent and performant microservices.
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and complex system design, with a focus on reliability and fault tolerance.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex features end-to-end, from technical design and implementation to deployment and monitoring in a 24/7 production environment.
---- Preferred Qualifications ----
- Proven experience developing and deploying production-grade Machine Learning (ML) systems or Optimization components, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model serving, and integrating ML predictions (e.g., ETA, demand) into critical application flows.
- Direct experience working on logistics, ride-sharing, or complex two-sided marketplace platforms, especially in areas like dynamic pricing, real-time matching, routing, or supply/demand balancing.
- Experience designing and optimizing algorithms related to operations research, graph theory, or advanced scheduling/batching logic.
- Deep technical knowledge of performance tuning and monitoring distributed systems, including experience with tracing, logging, and observability tools.
- Familiarity with the engineering challenges of working with large-scale data (terabytes/petabytes) and real-time streaming technologies.
- Prior contributions to the architecture of core platform components, demonstrating the ability to anticipate and solve technical challenges before they impact scalability or performance.
