About the role:

Uber Design teams are dedicated to not only functionality but also to creating joy and delight. Our work sparks opportunity and transforms the way the world moves. We design for people of all backgrounds and abilities across the globe.

Uber is looking for a Design Manager II to lead our India-based Merchant Design team. In this role, you won't just manage pixels; you will shape the strategic direction of how millions of global businesses-from local favorites to international chains-interact with the Uber platform. You will lead a high-performing team of designers to build tools that empower merchants to scale, optimize, and thrive in an increasingly digital world.

As a Design Manager II, you will lead the creation and delivery of delightful, user-centric experiences for people worldwide.

This role requires systems thinking, exceptional execution, bold innovation, a commitment to quality, and a deep passion for solving customer challenges.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. 7+ years of Product Design experience

  2. 3+ years of management experience, leading and growing product design teams

  3. Clear and effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills

  4. Experience building products for mobile apps, tablets, and web interfaces

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Strategic Business Acumen: A proven ability to align design strategy with long-term business goals, ensuring user experience drives commercial success.

  2. B2B & Merchant Expertise: Experience designing complex B2B ecosystems or merchant-facing tools, with a deep understanding of professional workflows and scalability.

  3. Proven Product Impact: A track record of shipping high-impact software products at scale. Experience taking products from 0 to 1 (conception to launch) is highly valued.

Be the Collaborative Glue: Foster a culture where design, product management, and engineering work in lockstep. You'll inspire your team to move beyond "requirements" to envisioning what is possible.5. Champion the Merchant: Serve as the primary advocate for the user.
