About the Role

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Payments Science team and make significant contributions to our mission to streamline and optimize Uber's global payment experiences.
You will work with product managers, engineers and fellow data scientists to shape the direction of one or more products within Payments. You will work on fast-moving, high-stakes problems reaching a global audience. A deep analytical passion and the ability to execute on key business priorities is a must for this role.

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

  1. Analyze key data assets to understand our payment experiences.
  2. Develop and monitor strategic metrics and understand all underlying drivers.
  3. Design and run experiments to analyze the impact of product changes.
  4. Deep dive into data to evaluate proposed product changes and identify opportunities for improving the user experience.
  5. Collaborate with product managers and other business leaders to make decisions based on data insights and experiment results.
  6. Communicate your findings to cross functional peers and management.

---- Basic Qualifications ----

  1. Bachelors or M.S. with a degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
  2. 3yrs+ experience in improving products, understanding the user journey and extracting insights from data.
  3. You know SQL in and out and also are comfortable with using Python and R when needed.
  4. 3yrs+ experience in launching multiple experiments (such as A/B experiments) and an expert in experimental design and using statistical methods in exploratory analysis.
  5. Advanced experience with dashboarding/data visualization (i.e. Google Data Studio, Tableau, Mixpanel, Looker or similar).
  6. Ability to work in a self-guided manner and deliver on tight timelines and prioritize tasks while maintaining quality and detail.
  7. Strong communication and organization skills and able to communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders.

  1. Experience with causal inference and statistical methods.
  2. Data engineering/pipeline creation experience.
  3. Prior experience within the payments or fintech industry.
  • For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD**$142,000 per year**
  • USD**$158,000 per year**.
  • For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD**$142,000 per year**
  • USD**$158,000 per year**.
