Job Details:

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for general building and equipment maintenance inclusive of snow removal in the winter and other seasonal landscaping tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

· General repair and maintenance of building, forklifts, pallet jacks, company vehicles, and all other equipment or buildings owned by the company

· Maintain company grounds inclusive of snow/ice removal, lawn work throughout the year

· Maintenance and safe operation of company vehicles

· Repair and replacement of facility lighting

· Repair of facility plumbing needs

· Trash removal from the facility

· Maintain the cleanliness of the maintenance shop

· Sweeping of the parking lot

· Maintain the bone yard and inventory if needed

· Assist with roof repairs and clean-up

· All other essential duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ability to carry out essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, within safety guidelines

· Ability to operate vehicles efficiently, within safety guidelines

· Ability to efficiently use hand tools and trades type tools, to provide maintenance of facility as required

· Good mechanic background required

· General knowledge of vehicle maintenance including preventative and scheduled maintenance.

· Good plumbing skills

· General knowledge of electrical and lighting

· Must have a valid driver’s license

· Willingness to work overtime and be called into work for emergency situations as required

Education and/or Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred

· Associate’s degree or equivalent in mechanical trade preferred

Communication Skills:

· Must be able to communicate within the department and understand directions

· Must be able to maintain records and communicate well

Physical Requirements / Environment:

· Stand/Walk: Continuously

· Lift/Carry: Frequently (1-10 lbs.), Occasionally (up to 35-50 lbs.)

· Other Physical Requirements:

o Frequently; bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder (up to 2 ft.), crouch, kneel, push/pull, grasp

o Continuously; working around moving machinery, in areas with marked changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust and fumes, occasionally working at unprotected heights, around and amongst dead birds and a strong chicken odor

· Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language in order to maintain records and communicate well

External Requirement: Must have a minimum of 6-month work experience. Facility maintenance and/or automotive mechanic experience is preferred and must be documented in the work history section of the application.

Rehire Consideration:

• Max of two (2) previous Tyson Employments to be considered for hire.

• 90 days (3 months) waiting period.
