Trane is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a talented professional to join our team as a Engineer – Product Engineering. In this pivotal role, you will support the design and development of our current & next line of exciting HVAC products. As a product engineer, you will collaborate closely with the design & cross-functional teams to build industry-relevant products that meet the required specifications for our global customers. The projects could be in the areas of Productivity, New product development, Quality and reliability, new technology platforms and others.

What you will do:

  • In this role you will:
  • Execute and support Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE), Quality & Reliability projects. And support deliver technically complex New Product Development (NPD), and New Technology Projects (NTP) projects for TK North America - APU platforms, with a focus on TK NA products.
  • Collaborate with global project owners, leaders, and cross-functional teams—including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers—to ensure exceptional project execution adhering to company processes, and project management principles.
  • Ensure achievement of project milestones/deliverables within committed Quality (Q), Delivery (D), Project cost (C), and Product cost (C) targets.
  • Develop concepts, convert to detail design, develop component specifications, select components or work with suppliers for development of the same.
  • Drive creation and release of engineering documentation using PLM/PDM tools including designs, drawings, bill of materials, and specifications.
  • Perform DFMEA, DVPR, DFMA, DFS, FRACAS, APQP & A3, and drive/support engineering builds/testing.
  • Perform/support on should costing, Business case preparation, Prototype builds & validations.
  • Perform GD&T for design applications considering manufacturing process & tooling limitations.* Linear / 2D Stack up analysis for the assemblies*
  • Use data analytics and visualization (e.g., Tableau) for project management reporting and decision making.
  • Prepare, participate and present project gate meetings, critical design reviews, lead technical discussion with global and internal cross functional teams.
  • Develop supplier qualification plans, support sourcing programs, and drive business continuity initiatives.
  • Contribute to process improvement and publish/present technical papers as needed.
  • Develop intellectual property for the organization through patentable solutions, actively contribute to external engagement such as technical paper presentation in internal and external forums.

What you will bring:

  • BE degree/ master’s in mechanical / automobile engineering with good academics.
  • 5-7 years hands-on experience in product design and development (HVAC domain will be added advantage), including component selection, system integration, concept development, and design in New Product Development (NPD), Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE), and New Technology Projects (NTP) & Quality & Reliability projects.
  • Proven track record of innovative projects, Proof of Concept projects, patent grant and technical publications are preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in executing end-to-end VAVE, Q&R, supplier qualification, and sustainability driven initiatives.
  • Fluent in DFMEA, test plan development, prototype/engineering builds, root cause analysis, and mitigating technical risks.
  • Strong proficiency with project management and PLM/PDM systems.
  • Knowledge on system engineering, MRD, PRD & PDD.
  • Skilled in data analysis and visualization (Tableau or similar) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, diesel engines, basic component selection and basic principles of material selection for application requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—able to present technical concepts and results clearly and concisely.
