Position Summary:
The Furnace Engineering - Associate Tech Lead is responsible for product design and development activities for various kinds of projects such as Value Engineering, Quality & Reliability. Associate Tech Lead will be highly accountable for project deliveries meeting Quality, Delivery & Cost (QDC) along with achieving productivity goals.
Interaction within the engineering teams as well as other functions and customers will be needed to successfully achieve this team's goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Product Management, Marketing, Integrated Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Field Operations and Finance to develop, coordinate and execute all the product change or new product related team activities.
- Define and execute VAVE projects sufficient to meet annual materials productivity targets.
- Develop and maintain a list of viable potential VAVE projects with a cumulative value of at least 200% of the annual assigned materials productivity goal.
- Partner and align with the RS HVAC manufacturing facilities (Trenton) on how to best execute VAVE and Q&R projects.
- Define and execute projects to meet assigned quality and reliability improvement targets.
- Provide support for product design issues for manufacturing and the field.
- Implement DFSS / DFM / DFR tools.
- Engineering analysis and design using analytical tools such as performance simulation, FEA, and CFD.
- Ensure standard work documentation is completed and released into Windchill.
- Drive cycle time reduction through use of lean tools.
- Partner with internal and external testing facility teams and leadership to execute Furnace testing per committed timelines.
- Collaborate with other RS HVAC engineering platforms to identify resource bottlenecks and identify mutual plans for success.
- Create and deliver a regular cadence of project status updates.
- Develop, coach and mentor junior engineers.
- Requires strong competency in handling Mechanical Engineering projects (SOM, Structural, Hand calculation etc.)
- Leads the Risk assessment, Prototyping and testing concept designs and initial engineering builds, Pilot Production, Design reviews, Design verification testing, Product validation, Pre-production & launch activities
- Should be able to drive VAVE projects independently starting from Project Scoping to Closure of the project
Education Qualification:
- BE degree/ master’s in mechanical / Automobile engineering/Aerospace with strong academics.
- 8 to 12 Years of Industry Experience
- SAVE/INVEST – VAVE certification preferable.
- Proven track record of successfully leading VAVE projects and achieving significant cost reductions.
Skills and Competencies
- Aptitude for mechanical and/or electrical application equipment design required
- Experience in Lean/Six Sigma strongly preferred
- Ability to effectively lead project meetings, must have good conflict management skills and demonstrate versatility in personal interaction
- Knowledge of FEA, CFD and computer simulation analysis.
- Problem assessment and problem analysis / solving skills
- Conflict management skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with PC based Windows programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
- Energy and desire to drive continuous improvement across organization.
- Results oriented individuals with an emphasis placed on achieving overall team performance.
- Six Sigma DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt/Lean Expert would be added advantage.
- Demonstrate innovation & initiative approach at work
- Fosters effective teamwork where people work together to achieve common goals. A strong team player capable of working with others.
