The Toast Enterprise Risk and Compliance Management Program provides a coordinated, company-wide approach to identify, measure, monitor, mitigate, and treat risks while enabling the business to innovate and deliver quality products and solutions to serve our customers. 

Toast, Inc. seeks a seasoned business continuity professional to lead the second line of defense business continuity management program. This role will have the opportunity to mature and enhance Toast’s comprehensive business continuity program for the company and work cross-functionally to operationalize business impact assessments, business continuity, and recovery Plans, and conduct regular testing of critical process and system continuity information. 

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

• Maintain and enhance Toast’s business continuity management program inclusive of business continuity plans, business impact assessments, tooling, and testing.  
• Own the continuity program requirements and develop, communicate, and implement business continuity policies and training for the organization and enforce adherence to policy. 
• Facilitate the development and refresh of plans (and refresh of plans)  through collaboration with business and cross-functional teams across the company. 
• Establish strong relationships with key business and cross-functional teams including IT, infrastructure engineering, information security, and product teams. 
• Design and execute scenario-based tests and tabletop exercises to assess the effectiveness of Toast’s crisis and emergency response plans. 
• Escalate, prepare materials, and report on business continuity management results, risks, KRIs, priorities, and performance to relevant committees, third parties, and stakeholders. 
• Identify, report, escalate, and drive timely resolution of business continuity-related issues and deficiencies through strong risk governance and oversight practices. 
• Monitor and implement relevant industry and regulatory changes to the business continuity management. 
• Own, manage, and drive the business continuity management strategy, roadmap, and risk appetite. 

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• At least five (5) years of experience in a business continuity management role at a fintech, bank, technology company, auditing, or consulting firm.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of business continuity management and disaster recovery practices.
• An understanding of common IT, infrastructure, technology, and data center configurations, terminology, controls, and recovery practices. 
• At least one of the relevant certification(s) such as the Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI), ISO 22301 Certified Business Continuity Manager (CBCM), Business Continuity and Resiliency Professional (BCRP) or other business continuity professional certification. 
• Strong critical and analytical thinking, decision-making, innovative problem-solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
• Ability to drive action and build consensus among cross-functional stakeholders. Detail-oriented with the ability to meet firm deadlines.
• Ability to adapt in challenging and changing situations, comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
