Job Description:

Interested in what an exciting career in Merchandising can look like? We're always looking to connect with those who may be interested in a future opportunity with TJX Merchandising- you never know when our next opportunity may present itself!

Our New York Buying Office sits in the heart of Manhattan’s iconic Fashion District, where nearly 250 talented associates, primarily buyers, drive our impact by curating exceptional products for our world-class off-price stores around the globe. Each buyer brings a unique global perspective to the ever‑evolving retail landscape, shaping the experience our customers enjoy every day. We foster a highly collaborative environment and offer the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

How We Do It Our buyers are on the hunt throughout the year for the hottest brand name and designer merchandise for the entire family and home — from trendy tops and handbags, to bold ties and footwear, to gourmet cookware and furniture, to hiking gear and active wear. Our buyers are opportunistic and entrepreneurial. When a designer or manufacturer overproduces or other stores overbuy, we swoop in, negotiate the best possible price, and pass the savings on.

We take advantage of a wide variety of opportunities, which can include department store cancellations, a manufacturer making up too much product, or a closeout deal when a vendor wants to clear merchandise at the end of a season, as well as lots of other ways to bring our customers great value.

The majority of products we sell are high quality, fashionable, brand name, and designer merchandise generally sold at prices 20%-60% less than full-price retailers’ regular prices on comparable merchandise. Most of our merchandise is on-trend, current season styles. A small percentage is past season, or timeless classics, which we also offer at amazing savings.

Some of our merchandise is manufactured for us and some is designed by our own fashion experts, particularly when what we are seeing in the marketplace isn’t the right value for our customers, meaning the right combination of brand, fashion, price, and quality. For example, we work with artists in Poland to create beautiful blown glass, we source amazing cashmere and merino wool from Italy, we design soaps to be created in Australia. We are always seeking great quality and value all over the world!

About Our Buyers Our dynamic Buying team is responsible for buying product to offer our customers a desirable and rapidly changing mix of high quality merchandise, always at amazing values! So whatever our customers’ style – classic, understated, eclectic, outdoorsy, or super-trendy, we know that they will find something fun, individual, and special, every time they visit.
