The Opportunity: Grow Your Career

At TJX Australia, our merchants are in the market every week, fostering vendor relationships and buying exciting merchandise that represents incredible value to our customers. We are not tied to a corporate-controlled matrix; we expect and encourage our Buyers to source new vendors and resources to bring in desired goods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Autonomy and Decision Making: Our Buyers have a high level of autonomy, with the ability to negotiate and make on-the-spot decisions while in the marketplace.

• Creativity and Risk-Taking: We provide an environment where our Buyers can be creative, free thinkers, and encourage risk-taking.

• Opportunistic Purchasing: Purchase quality, brand-name goods opportunistically.

• Strategic Forecasting: Analyze history and current business to strategically forecast future opportunities.

• Collaboration: Work closely with other Buyers and Management to meet company goals and objectives.

• Market Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of market conditions regarding price, resources, and fashion trends, and react accordingly to impact sales.

• Negotiation: Negotiate and make decisions to buy while in the marketplace.

• Travel: Travel as required.

Who We’re Looking For: You

• Experience: Minimum of four years at the Buyer level in a fast-paced retail environment, specifically in fashion-oriented apparel or home categories.

• Retail Background: Prior experience as a Buyer in a large, multi-unit retail environment.

• Sales Results: Proven history of successfully driving sales results.

• Skills: Strong analytical, financial, strategic, and planning skills.

• Negotiation: Proven record of strong negotiating skills, with examples to substantiate.

• Attitude: Go-getter with a "can-do attitude" and a true excitement for the business.

• Mindset: Creative, entrepreneurial-minded, with a strong comfort level with taking measurable risks.

• Team Player: Strong team playing, clear communication, and relationship-building skills are very important to be successful in our business.
