This posting is for proactive recruitment purposes and may be used to fill current openings or future vacancies within our organization.
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer AI to lead the design and delivery of AI-driven, automated content workflows, seamlessly integrate them into our existing editorial systems, and improve those systems, which power our products. You will own end-to-end solutions—from discovery and architecture to build, deployment, and operational excellence—combining modern AI technologies (Python, REST, AWS, microservices) with our established Java/Spring, XML/XSLT, and Oracle-based content platforms. Success in this role means shipping reliable, secure, high-performance services that augment editorial processes, improve content quality and throughput, and interoperate cleanly with current tooling and schemas. You will collaborate closely with product, editorial, and platform teams worldwide to translate legal editorial and research expertise—e.g., editorial workflows, legal taxonomies, XML/XSLT schemas, and citation standards—into scalable capabilities, establish best practices, and mentor engineers to raise the bar.
About the Role:
In this role as a Senior Software Engineer AI, you will:
-
Lead AI adoption by designing, implementing, and operationalizing solutions in fast-paced environments, including LLM orchestration (OpenAI, Anthropic, and others), RESTful API design, and backend logic for real-time, retrieval-based interactions (e.g., with Open Search).
-
Design, develop, and operate backend and content services that enable generative AI agents and automate editorial workflows across ingestion, enrichment, validation, and publication, while honoring and improving XML/XSLT schemas and transformations.
-
Build and maintain AWS microservices with Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL, creating stable contracts/adapters, refining Java/Spring integrations, and optimizing performance on Oracle.
-
Modernize editorial systems and internal tools by enhancing XML/XSLT pipelines, Java/Spring services, Oracle-backed repositories, and internal Angular applications to deliver reliable, secure, high-performance solutions.
-
Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, product managers, and platform teams to deliver product and editorial workflow generative AI experiences.
About You:
You’re fit for the role of Senior Software Engineer AI if your background includes:
-
Practical experience with LLMs/AI: agents, orchestration, evaluation, and guardrails; operating LLM/RAG services in production with prompt/model versioning and quality/cost/latency monitoring.
-
5 years building scalable backends and APIs; 3 years with Python (FastAPI or similar) and strong relational SQL skills (PostgreSQL/Oracle).
-
Strong AWS and security controls: IAM (role/policy design), KMS (encryption at rest/in transit), Secrets Manager (rotation/integration), and networking best practices; or equivalent experience in another major cloud.
-
Hands-on with AWS services: S3 (data lakes, lifecycle/versioning), DynamoDB (modeling/capacity), Elasti Cache (low-latency caching), and SQS/Kinesis (queues/streams, backpressure).
-
Operational excellence: scalability, reliability, observability, and cost optimization; CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Code Pipeline/Code Build), automated testing and environment promotions; IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation (modular stacks, reviews, drift detection, rollbacks).
-
Integration of content pipelines with Java/Spring (MVC/Web, Boot, Data, JPA/Hibernate), testing (JUnit 5/Mockito), work with Angular
