Job Description: Join us as a Purchasing and Planning Supervisor at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll guide planning and scheduling operations that maintain production efficiency. You'll oversee production scheduling, capacity planning, and inventory management while supporting a team of planners. This role combines analytical thinking with operational management to ensure we meet customer demands while optimizing resources and costs. This role has 5 Direct Reports.

In this role, you'll balance supply and demand, develop and maintain production schedules, and collaborate across departments to enhance operational effectiveness. You'll use advanced planning tools and analytics to make data-driven decisions that improve manufacturing efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role works across our sites in Banyo and Woolloongaba.

Key Responsibilities: Support SIOP and supply planning by partnering with site and distributed team members to maintain the Master Production Schedule, develop site supply plans, and enable timely ordering of long-lead materials.

Handle purchasing and material availability by being responsible for purchase requisitions, purchase-to-pay activities, KANBAN replenishment, and system upgrades impacting planning and materials management.

Lead sourcing and supplier performance activities across direct and indirect procurement, facilitating demand–supply reviews and driving supplier accountability against requirements

Drive quality, financial support, and ongoing progress by supporting accounts payable processes, developing SOPs and handle quality records. Develop and mentor team members, strengthen master data management, planning tool usage, and proactive issue resolution.

Requirements:

  • Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field
  • APICS CPIM certification preferred
  • Leadership experience leading and developing teams
  • Strong proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with MPS/MRP processes
  • Proven track record to analyze data and make strategic decisions to optimize production efficiency
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellence in cross-functional collaboration and communication
  • Experience in developing and supervising key performance metrics (OTD, inventory levels, etc.)
  • Ability to balance customer service goals with operational efficiency
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
