Position Summary:

This role involves working in the Digital Commerce Platforms group to develop and implement enterprise initiatives and technical projects for Fisher Scientific and Thermo Fisher Scientific ecommerce websites.

As a senior software engineer, you will be responsible for: Designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications, participating in architecture and code reviews, helping to prioritize features and bug fixes, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams at Thermofisher, leading in the pursuit and delivery of the best possible product.

Job Functions:

• Define and develop verifiable requirements and software designs.
• Develop technical documentation for software architecture, design, and verification plans.
• Define and develop software requirements, architectures and designs suited or fault-tolerant systems.
• Participate in all aspects of software development, systems integration, test execution, issue resolution, and reviews.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with software, hardware, and test engineers across the team.

Essential Experience/Skills:

• Software Engineer with 7+ years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering scalable applications.
• Advanced programming expertise in front-end and full-stack technologies including Node.js and React.
• Strong experience in Python and Java, with hands-on exposure to modern development frameworks and backend services.
• Practical experience leveraging AI/ML tools and platforms, including:
• GitHub Copilot for AI-assisted code generation and productivity enhancement
• Enterprise ChatGPT for solution design, debugging, documentation, and workflow optimization
• Foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts including supervised learning, model evaluation, prompt engineering, and AI-driven automation use cases
• Clear conceptual understanding of AI/ML principles, including model lifecycle, data handling considerations, and responsible AI usage in enterprise environments.
• Experience deploying and managing applications on elastic cloud platforms such as Kubernetes and AWS EC2.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex technical challenges and deliver practical solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to think critically, quickly learn new technologies, navigate ambiguity, and consistently deliver results.
• Strong teamwork, leadership, and time management skills; passionate about leading, mentoring, and developing junior team members.
• Effective communicator with the ability to clearly express ideas within teams and across cross-functional departments.
• Ability to step up during critical situations, including tight deadlines and production incidents.
• Flexible to support overlapping work hours when required and participate in onshore calls.
• Regular day-to-day responsibilities do not involve travel.
