Position Summary:
Join our organization as a Project Manager / Scrum Master and contribute to sophisticated technology initiatives that enable Thermo Fisher Scientific's mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You'll lead complex software projects and programs while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that advance our technological capabilities. As a member of our development team, you'll apply your expertise to lead our agile scrum processes, ensure successful execution of projects from inception through delivery, build strong stakeholder relationships, and contribute to continuous improvement of our project management practices.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the agile scrum processes used by the development teams
- Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings
- Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress; Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and facilitating collaboration
- Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
- Adapt project plans, schedules, and resource assignments as required throughout projects to respond to emerging requirements and risks
- Support the development managers and project leads as necessary
- Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practices, and mentor other project teams on Scrum methodology as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
- Advanced degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 6 years of experience managing complex IT projects through the full lifecycle, as a Scrum Master / Project Manager
- Expertise in project scope, timeline, budget, and resource management
- Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and frameworks (Scrum, SAFe)
- Proficiency with project management tools
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a highly dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work and collaborate with diverse teams
- Experience in stakeholder management and executive-level communication
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making
- Consistent record of delivering projects on time and within budget
- Knowledge of change management principles and methodologies
Preferred Skills:
- Agile/Scrum certifications (CSM, SAFe)
- PMP certification
- Background in Life sciences domains relevant to Thermo Fisher
- Academic background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields
