Position Summary
The Director, HR- APMEA is a high-impact HR leadership role based in India, supporting PPD, the clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific, across the APMEA region. The Director – Human Resources will lead the regional people agenda, with a strong focus on India and other strategic growth locations, helping build a scalable, high-performing, and inclusive organization.
You will work closely with senior business leaders, Country HR Heads, and global HR partners to shape people strategies that enable growth, strengthen leadership capability, and create a meaningful employee experience. This role also acts as the voice of APMEA within the global CRG HR community, ensuring regional perspectives are well represented and connected.
Key Responsibilities Drive a People-Centric Growth Agenda
- Lead the APMEA HR strategy for CRG, translating global priorities into practical, locally relevant people initiatives.
- Balance business growth needs with a strong focus on employee experience, engagement, and capability building.
- Act as a trusted people advisor to senior leaders, supporting them through growth, change, and transformation.
Partner Closely with Country HR Teams
- Work hand-in-hand with Country HR leaders across APMEA to enable business expansion and operational scale.
- Support workforce planning, organization design, and talent deployment in high-growth and emerging markets.
- Ensure HR solutions are relevant to local labour markets, cultural nuances, and compliance environments.
Build Strong Leadership & Talent Pipelines
- Strengthen leadership capability through focused development, coaching, and succession planning.
- Identify and develop high-potential talent, enabling career growth, mobility, and long-term retention.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring equitable opportunities and a sense of belonging for all employees.
Enhance Engagement & Culture
- Drive initiatives to improve employee engagement, well-being, and retention, particularly in fast-growing teams.
- Embed a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning aligned with Thermo Fisher 4i values.
- Partner with Country HR teams to address local engagement themes and employee feedback.
Connect Regional & Global HR
- Act as the key bridge between APMEA and Global CRG HR, ensuring clear communication and strong alignment.
- Represent the region in global HR discussions, bringing forward insights, talent trends, and people priorities from India and APMEA.
- Collaborate with HR Centres of Excellence to tailor global programs for regional effectiveness.
Lead Through Influence in a Matrix
- Navigate a complex, global matrix by building trust, influencing stakeholders, and aligning priorities.
- Foster collaboration across HR, business, and functional teams without direct authority.

Education and Experience:
- Postgraduate qualification in HR, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- 15 years of progressive HR experience, including senior leadership roles in large, complex, or multinational organizations.
- Strong experience working in or leading HR for India or high-growth markets.
- Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence outcomes in a matrixed environment.
- Solid understanding of Indian labour practices, talent markets, and cultural dynamics, with regional exposure across APMEA.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder-management skills.
