Job Description Cell Culture Scientist

Summarized Purpose:
We are currently hiring for a Scientist decated team in Stevenage.
The successful candidates will support ongoing laboratory research projects through hands-on experimental work, contributing to sample preparation, data generation, and analysis across multiple platforms while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
The Cell Culture & Media Preparation Specialist will be responsible for routine and advanced cell culture activities, including preparation of cell culture media and reagents, maintenance of mammalian cell cultures, and ensuring high standards of sterility, quality control, and documentation.
Across all roles, candidates will be expected to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintain accurate experimental records, comply with health and safety regulations, and contribute to the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
Essential Functions:

Preparation of cell culture media and reagents
-
Maintenance of mammalian cell cultures including passaging and cyropreservation
-
Trains on routine operation, maintenance and theory of instrumentation, SOPs and regulatory procedures and guidelines.

Maintain accurate experimental records
-
Ensures QA findings are addressed appropriately.

Problem solving, either independently or with assistance pertaining to extraction and/or instrumentation problems.

Communicates project status to project leader.

Performs work assignments accurately, and in a timely and safe manner according to Health as Safety procedures

Reviews, interprets, and analyzes data

Performs self and peer review of the data for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements prior to submission to QA and issuance to customers.
Education and Experience:
-
BSc (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a closely related discipline

MSc or equivalent postgraduate qualification is desirable but not essential, depending on experience

Demonstrated practical laboratory in cell culture.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

2 years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture

Proven expertise in cell culture media preparation, reagent handling, and sterile technique

Experience with primary cells, cell lines, or organoid culture is desirable

Experience in routine maintenance of cultures, passaging, cryopreservation, and quality control
-
Familiarity with SOPs, lab documentation, and health & safety compliance

Strong organisational and communication skills
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
