DESCRIPTION:

Join our team as Legal Counsel at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll provide strategic legal guidance to support our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. In this role, you'll handle complex commercial contracts, regulatory compliance matters, and strategic legal matters across our operations in Australia and New Zealand. You'll collaborate with business teams to draft, review, and negotiate agreements while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements. As a valued member of our legal team, you'll help drive process improvements, develop standardized templates and playbooks, and provide training to enhance legal understanding across the organization. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth within a company that values integrity, intensity, innovation, and involvement.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in law plus 3 years of experience practising law in a law firm or in-house with experience in commercial contracts essential. Exposure to healthcare/life sciences industry is an advantage
  • Current Legal Practising Certificate granted in Australia or New Zealand
  • Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
  • Excellent research and analytical skills for interpreting legislation and regulations
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities with strong negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to translate legal concepts into practical business solutions
  • Strong project management capabilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Professional fluency in English; additional language skills valuable
  • Experience with contract management systems and legal technology platforms
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Solutions-oriented and practical approach to complex problems
