Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to work on
a critical challenge facing the world’s energy transition – Battery Cathode
Materials.

In this role, you will join a team of mechanical design engineers
responsible for delivering equipment and facility modifications and expansions
that enable high-volume, high-quality cathode production. Within a demanding
and fast-paced environment, you will work closely with various stakeholders to
ramp up large-scale production lines.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct mechanical design for various
solids handling & processing equipment (e.g. silos, hoppers, conveyors, piping,
    rotary valves, mixers)

  • Champion efficiency, constructability, quality, and safety, adhering
to company & industry recognized practices

  • Support projects in concept development, detailed design,
procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases

  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, controls, EHS, and third-party
vendors to ensure projects meet budget, schedule, production, and safety requirements

  • Engage in mechanical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and
    continuous improvement efforts

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree or Equivalent Experience in mechanical engineering or related field (e.g., aerospace, mechatronics)
  • 1+ years of experience within an industrial-scale manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional mechanical engineering fundamentals
with demonstrated ability in effectively leveraging them to solve challenging
    technical problems
  • Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing
equipment, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, repair scopes, and
    design improvements
  • Proficiency in 3D
  • CAD design software (Solid Works highly preferred)
  • Strong working
knowledge of fabrication & assembly processes (e.g., machining, welding)
  • Familiarity with
applicable engineering codes & standards (e.g., ASME)
  • Excellent verbal and written
    communication skills
