Sr. Technical Program Manager, New Service Operations
About the role
What to Expect
Tesla Energy sells and services a growing set of offerings that stretch what the typical operational model is used to supporting. Those obligations often reach the field before systems are ready to run them. This role owns operationalizing new and non-standard service offerings for Energy. You will collaborate with Product and Sales to set parameters for what is standard vs non-standard, then build the intake-to-readiness machinery so obligations can be met — structured intake, maintenance readiness against contracts and SLAs, asset-management and customer-relationship enablement, and the customer-facing reporting path that proves we can deliver what was sold. You partner with Product, Commercial, Asset Management, Field Ops, Software, and industrial/residential/charging lifecycle teams — and you are measured on whether offerings go live with operational scaffolding in place.
What You’ll Do
- Own the operational-offerings funnel end-to-end — detect non-standard and net-new obligations from Sales, Product, and Commercial signals; capture scope once; and drive them through readiness before launch
- Collaborate with Product and Sales to define parameters for standard vs non-standard offerings — so the organization knows what is catalog vs what requires operationalization investment
- Develop, implement, and manage workflows for operationalizing new obligations and processes — functional group needs (Asset Management, Fleet Management, tooling, training, warranty, customer reporting), exit criteria, and punch lists to zero or documented waiver
- Evaluate maintenance and service readiness across the fleet against contracts and SLAs — ensure obligations will be met before steady-state ops is asked to run them
- Enable asset management and customer relationship paths for new offerings —configuration, warranty fields, monitoring hooks, and customer reporting without one-off spreadsheets
- Drive execution readiness across partner orgs— sequence PMs in Product, Engineering, Field, Asset Management, and Commercial to committed deliverables; escalate when timelines and sold obligations diverge
- Build the system-of-record and KPI layer for offerings in flight — funnel visibility, gate status, pre- vs post-launch defects, time-to-operational-stability, and effectiveness monitoring with Data/Analytics and Operations so workflows improve under load
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in product or program management, operations, or related work with a strong focus on process improvement and operationalization; 8+ preferred; energy storage, grid-scale, or multi-product industrial aftermarket experience a plus
- Proven ownership of intake-to-readiness workflows for offerings or obligations that deviate from a standard catalog — configuration-driven process design, gate criteria, cross-functional punch lists, and judgment to separate launch-blocking defects from waivable ones
- Working fluency with contracts and service-level obligations — ability to translate commercial language into operational readiness checks (maintenance, monitoring, reporting, warranty)
- Systems thinking for asset and customer data — comfort defining what must be true in Installbase-class registries, warranty fields, monitoring, and customer reporting before an offering is runnable
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across Sales, Commercial, Product, Field, Asset Management, and Engineering in a multi-region environment
- SQL and modern work-tracking fluency (Jira/Confluence or equivalent) sufficient to interrogate funnel health and build the views you need when the system-of-record falls short
