Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design, launch, and production ramp for high volume Optimus assembly lines. In this role you will own all aspects of the line and collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Automation, and Production teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, develop assembly processes and commission automated lines in Tesla factories. What You’ll Do

  • Drive improvements in product design for manufacturability, assembly, cost and quality cross-functionally from pilot builds to high volume ramp
  • Design limb-level subassembly line architecture to maximize throughput and volumetric efficiency
  • Define manufacturing equipment requirements, lead RFQs, and execute through design, build, commissioning, and validation phases with evolving product maturity
  • Develop process capability, cycle time, OEE targets at the process and line level
  • Provide critical engineering feedback during equipment design reviews to drive simplicity and reliability to ensure maximum equipment uptime
  • Manage equipment suppliers to deliver production-ready lines on time and to Tesla standard
  • Develop critical process parameters and recipes to meet yield and throughput requirements
  • Lead Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) and equipment buyoff
  • Create process specifications, validation reports and troubleshooting documentation
  • Drive deliverables from dependencies cross-functionally to meet critical program deadlines

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years launching complex electro-mechanical products into high-volume production
  • Experience applying first-principles thinking to manufacturing challenges
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as 3DEXPERIENCE and Solid Works, AutoCAD for layout design
  • Strong understanding and proven experience in applying GD&T principles
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods such as GR&R, SPC, Cp/Cpk, DoE
  • Expertise in Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturability
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with automated assembly processes such as fastening, pressing, adhesive dispense, pick-and-place, and related equipment
  • Strong project leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Travel up to 35% to Tesla factories and automation vendors
