Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced Managing Director to serve as the Business Controls enablement lead for the Business Controls and Resiliency organization. This role requires a blend of business management, program leadership, and first‑line risk and control expertise. The successful candidate will drive horizontal initiatives across the enterprise, stand up and run governance routines, support senior leadership with strategic execution, and enable a strong culture of risk excellence. This position requires excellent stakeholder management, autonomous execution, and the ability to operate at senior‑executive levels.

What you will be responsible for

As Business Manager – Business Controls, Managing Director, you will:

  • Drive business management routines for Business Controls, ensuring priorities, communications, and decision flows are well‑managed across senior leadership.

  • Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of horizontal initiatives spanning risk, strategy, transformation, governance, and regulatory matters.

  • Stand up and manage workstreams, governance forums, and cross‑functional programs, ensuring clear accountability and timely outcomes.

  • Prepare executive‑ready materials for the Board, regulators, senior committees, and internal leadership forums.

  • Partner closely with Business Risk Management, Compliance, Regulatory Liaison, and COO teams to drive consistent first‑line risk and control practices.

  • Establish and maintain portfolio oversight, project governance, and management reporting frameworks.

  • Lead process improvement, target operating model work, and organizational alignment efforts across Business Controls.

  • Build strong relationships across all business lines, enabling collaboration and driving talent development and culture‑building initiatives.

  • Operate as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the leadership team, anticipating risks, issues, and emerging needs.

  • Work autonomously, proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen risk excellence, operational resilience, and control effectiveness.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in strategy, business management, risk & controls, program management, or transformation roles in a large global financial institution.

  • Demonstrated experience leading senior‑level cross‑functional initiatives.

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Relevant project/program management credentials (e.g., PMP, MSP) are an advantage.

  • Advanced proficiency in management reporting, analytics, and executive communications.

Additional Requirements

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Experience in highly regulated, global, matrixed organizations preferred.

Salary Range:

$170 000 - $267 500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
