The Platform team creates the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the infrastructure, tooling, frameworks, and capabilities needed to welcome a billion customers.
Backstage was born at Spotify to address the challenges of scaling engineering organizations and has since evolved into a leading open source platform for building developer portals. Alongside our widely adopted open-source platform, Spotify now offers Portal—our commercial SaaS product—helping companies reduce cognitive load and scale their R&D organizations.
This role sits within PDX Insights, the data science team supporting Platform Developer Experience. We partner closely with Product, User Research, Design and Engineering to help guide the evolution of Backstage and Portal through data-informed decision making.
What You'll Do
- Partner closely with Product Managers to influence roadmaps using product insights
- Be opinionated about what signals matter most at different stages of the product lifecycle
- Define and evolve core product metrics related to adoption, engagement, and long-term value to support product decisions
- Analyze product usage to identify opportunities to improve the developer experience
- Frame success criteria and trade-offs to support product prioritization
- Design analyses and experiments to inform product investments
- Communicate insights clearly to senior stakeholders across Platform
- Contribute to a culture of learning, collaboration, and thoughtful use of data
Who You Are
- Have experience influencing product direction with data in complex or evolving product spaces
- Can be pragmatic and opinionated about measurement based on product strategy
- Have solid analytical foundations (SQL, experimentation, statistical reasoning)
- Communicate clearly and enjoy close collaboration with Product, User Research, Design and Engineering
- You enjoy roles where judgment, context, and collaboration matter as much as technical depth.
- Are motivated by impact and enabling teams to make better decisions
Where You'll Be
- This role is based in London or Stockholm
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
