Business Development Team Lead (ShopeeFood) - Sabah/Sarawak

As a Business Development Team Lead, you will play a key role in expanding Shopee Food’s merchant ecosystem in East Malaysia (Sabah/Sarawak). You will lead and develop a team of field sales executives, drive merchant acquisition and growth strategies, and build strong partnerships with local F&B businesses. This role requires a hands-on leader who understands the local market landscape and is passionate about building high-performing teams while delivering impactful business results.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and guide a team of field sales Business Development Executives to achieve team KPIs and sales targets by providing regular coaching, developing strategies, and monitoring performance.
• Identify business opportunities in your area to drive merchant growth.
• Collaborate with business leads and cross-functional teams to support Shopee Food’s business objectives.
• Support the development of win-win solutions for partners and Shopee Food based on business needs.
• Drive localized business growth through competitor analysis, sales planning, and merchant engagement strategies.
• Proactively manage relationships with merchants to ensure satisfaction and growth within your designated area.
• Ensure the team meets operational and strategic goals while maintaining a focus on merchant success.

Requirements

• Based in Sabah/Sarawak with strong knowledge of the local F&B and market landscape.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sales, business development, or merchant partnerships, with proven team leadership experience.
• Experience in F&B, FMCG, food delivery, or e-commerce industries is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in any field (Business, Commerce, or Marketing preferred).
• Proactive and independent, with the ability to manage team performance and drive targets.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills; effective in collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Innovative problem-solver with practical business acumen and analytical ability.
• Fluent in English. Proficiency in Bahasa Melayu, Chinese, other languages or dialects will be an added advantage.
• Flexible to work on-ground during peak periods or as business needs require.
