What's The Role

A Senior Advisor is accountable for providing concise, accurate, comprehensive, intelligent and timely Philippine tax advice to Shell stakeholders, manage tax disputes including claims involving indirect and direct taxes, lead and support advocacy work and support the Country Tax Head in general. The role has primary focus on Downstream and/or RES operations in Philippines, and is expected to support some of the businesses and activities across Shell as priorities demand. In this role you will:

• Support the team in accountability for the overall proper management of all taxes in Philippines, irrespective of whether these are handled in their own organisation.

• Support the overall effective and efficient operation of tax in Philippines

• Support the team in enhancing relationship with BIR

• Support and exhibit the new behaviours and ways of working to embed flexibility as a sustainable approach to the rapid and agile deployment of resources to high risk/value priorities within and across Tax, in particular working together with other tax teams in the APAC/ROW cluster.

• Support management of resources to achieve the targeted balance between dedication (to assigned business/function/process) and allocation (to other areas/projects)."

• Identify opportunities for increased tax opportunites for Shell business and tax savings.

• Acting as primary focal point for the Shell Philippines, interfacing with FO, business focal points for the development and maintenance of Philippines transfer pricing documentation for Shell Energy Philippines

What You Bring

• A lawyer who specializes in Taxation with straight tax experience of 15-17 years at the minimum, in the Philippines, either as Tax practitioner in an audit firm or law firm or as in-house counsel of a multinational company (classified as an excise taxpayer, preferred)

• Has deep knowledge of applicable tax regulations to conduct and present analyses of data to support organizational and management reviews, strategy assessment, tactics and policies.

• Is able to effectively communicate information to managers or less experienced staff, shares knowledge effectively within the work team and customizes reports, variance explanations, and presentations to the interests of the audience.

• Oversees routine tax activities such as tax return filing, data collection, research, and compliance. As an Individual Contributor, works under broad guidance and supervision by Country Tax Head for complex activities.

• Establishes short term operational decisions typically within a one-year time frame.
