Role Overview
The Advisory Enterprise Architect (Federal Government) is a senior presales role that combines deep solution architecture expertise with strategic advisory influence across Australia’s Federal Government sector. Sitting within the Enterprise Architecture Team, you will serve as the primary technical authority for Service Now’s Federal Government engagements, architecting transformational solutions, shaping agency digital strategies, and building the trusted relationships that underpin long-term growth.
You will work horizontally across Sales, Solution Consulting, Alliances, and Partner teams, co-creating compelling technical visions with agency leaders while orchestrating the internal expertise needed to win and deliver complex, high-value opportunities.
Your impact is measured by your influence, architectural quality, and the outcomes you drive for government customers and the Service Now business.

What You’ll Do
Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership:

Lead presales architecture strategy for transformational Federal Government opportunities, defining technical foundations that win deals and set customers up for long-term success.

Design architectures that address complex agency challenges spanning AI transformation, digital service delivery, ITSM, Sec Ops, GRC, and workflow automation.

Partner with Account Executives and Solution Consulting teams to structure and present solutions that are compelling, credible, and commercially aligned.

Deliver and oversee proof-of-concept and proof-of-value engagements that demonstrate measurable business impact.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
-
Build and sustain relationships across Federal agencies
-
Act as a trusted advisor and strategic sounding board on digital transformation, platform strategy, APS operating models, and whole-of-government initiatives.

Represent Service Now at industry forums, roundtables, and policy discussions, elevating our position as a credible long-term technology partner to government.

Help define and influence Federal digital transformation narratives where Service Now plays a leading role.
Coordination & Thought Leadership
-
Serve as the architecture lead across Sales, Solution Consulting, Alliances, and Inspire Value for Federal Government opportunities.

Scale best practice sharing across the broader EA and Solution Consulting community in APAC.

Bring structure and clarity to complex, multi-party Federal engagements, participating in account reviews and pipeline governance.

Support public sector compliance requirements, procurement frameworks and joint business planning.
-
Independently qualify opportunities, shape deal strategy, and make commercial judgements about what to invest architectural effort.
Architecture Domain Coverage
You will lead cross-domain architecture engagements across:

AI transformation and agentic workflow automation

Digital service delivery and citizen experience

ITSM, ITOM, and IT service modernisation

Security Operations (Sec Ops) and cyber risk management
-
GRC, IRM, and whole-of-government compliance frameworks

Vendor, procurement, and contract workflow management

HR and workforce transformation
-
Customer / Citizen Service Management (CSM)
To be successful in this role you have:
Experience & Background
-
10+ years in presales solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or senior technology consulting roles, with at least 6-7 years focused on the Australian Federal Government sector plus strong experience in adjacent regulated sectors.

Experience architecting enterprise solutions at scale, with exposure to frameworks such as TOGAF or equivalent government architecture standards.
-
Demonstrated success in complex presales environments; structuring, presenting, and winning large strategic opportunities with multiple competing stakeholders.
Technical Depth
-
Proficiency in emerging AI and automation technologies and the ability to articulate how they integrate with agency platforms and Service Now’s roadmap.

Broad understanding of the Federal Government technology landscape, including common legacy environments, security classifications, and cloud adoption constraints.

Comfortable operating across multiple architecture domains; you don’t need to be the deepest expert in every area, but you can credibly lead conversations and know when to bring in specialists.

Proven ability to build trust and influence at the executive level, you communicate complex technical concepts with clarity

Strong commercial awareness: you understand the business context behind technical decisions and can balance agency needs with Service Now’s commercial objectives.

Comfortable operating autonomously in a matrixed, fast-moving environment.
Practical Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain Australian Government security clearance,

Role based in Canberra, with national travel to other locations as needed.
