ABOUT THE TEAM:
Semgrep’s Infrastructure team is responsible for building and maintaining Semgrep’s internal developer platform which supports many applications including our flagship Code, Supply Chain, and Secrets products, the Semgrep Cloud Platform and Semgrep Managed Scanning. Our team mission is to enable Semgrep’ers to effectively and confidently build, run, and manage their systems. We do this by providing a tightly integrated platform for going “from code to cloud” including CI/CD systems, Kubernetes on AWS cloud environments, and tools for operating software in production.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Database Engineer or Database Admin (DBA) with Postgres experience who is passionate about scalable, secure, performant, and reliable software.
You will:
-
Own major infrastructure initiatives end-to-end, from working with stakeholders to identify needs through implementation, onboarding, and maintenance
-
Develop technical strategy, working cross functionally with other leaders at the company to determine the evolution of our cloud data infrastructure
-
Collaborate with engineers and product managers to support them in building the best possible products
-
Architect and build simple, maintainable, extensible and observable software systems
-
Advise, mentor, and sponsor other engineers inside and outside the team
-
Maintain the database systems we operate as part of our platform
YOU ARE IDEAL FOR THIS ROLE IF:
-
You have 7+ years of experience operating and maintaining production databases.
-
You have strong hands on experience with Postgres, RDS and/or Aurora
-
You are passionate about improving the availability and reliability of database systems
-
You know to work iteratively, fail fast, manage risk, and effectively respond to incidents
-
You have experience leading complex initiatives and working across teams
-
You are a thoughtful mentor and lifelong learner
Location:
This is a hybrid role with the expectation you’ll join us 3+ days per week in either our San Francisco, New York, Boston or Denver offices.
Compensation:
The estimated starting annual salary range for this position is $202,500 to $238,000 USD. The actual base salary will be determined based on a number of factors, which may include job-related skills, relevant experience, qualifications, location, internal equity, and market data. In addition to base salary, total compensation may include equity, variable compensation, and benefits. We view equity as a meaningful part of our compensation philosophy and a way for employees to share in the long-term value they help create.
Compensation ranges are reviewed regularly and may be adjusted as the role, individual performance, or market conditions evolve.
WHAT WE OFFER (FTE ONLY)
Our goal is to competitively and fairly compensate every Semgrep employee with a system that equally rewards those who are vocal and those who are less comfortable making demands during the final steps of the hiring process. To that end, we generate internal compensation bands that are used when discussing and negotiating salaries. We update these based on market data to make sure they’re above the average for comparable roles.
We invest in our employees’ well-being and long-term success through a competitive, market-aligned benefits program that meets or exceeds local market standards across all of the regions in which we hire. Benefits offerings vary by location to reflect local requirements and norms.
